چکیده
Abstract Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a prevalent and impairing behavior, affecting individuals with without additional psychopathology. To shed further light on biological processes that precede result from NSSI acts, we built previous cross-sectional evidence suggesting the endogenous opioid system, especially β-endorphin, involved in psychopathology of NSSI. This first study assessing salivary β-endorphin daily life context acts. Fifty-one female adults repetitive participated over period 15 days an ambulatory assessment study. Salivary was assessed before after engagement NSSI, during high urge for non-NSSI day. Furthermore, specific variables such as pain ratings, well method, severity, function were assessed. We found levels immediately act significantly lower than directly However, there no difference between post measures. positive association severity self-inflicted injury levels, but significant subjectively experienced pain. The results present indicate it possible to assess our provide indication acts could be associated momentary increase this might reinforce engagement. More research needed replicate extend findings peripheral life.

In this article we summarize what is known about nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) in youth. First, we describe basic demographic trends, prevalence, and function. Then we turn our attention to the implications of NSSI for schools, schoolrelated policies, and school guidelines. Having provided an overview of the field, we conclude that even in the absence of academic and clinical consensus of the ...

متن کاملAssessment of nonsuicidal self-injury: development and initial validation of the Non-Suicidal Self-Injury-Assessment Tool (NSSI-AT).
Research tools for assessing nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) epidemiology in community populations are few and are either limited in the scope of NSSI characteristics assessed or included as part of suicide assessment. Though these surveys have been immensely useful in establishing the presence of NSSI and in documenting basic epidemiological characteristics, they have been less useful in descri...
